Turtle Survey Volunteers Needed

Citizen Scientist Turtle Survey

April 18th and 25th Volunteer Opportunity & Training at Ward Reservation, Andover

Massachusetts turtles are in trouble and YOU CAN HELP by volunteering to survey turtles at Ward Reservation or Harold Parker State Forest.

Turtles face threats from loss of habitat, predators such as skunks and racoons, illegal collecting and the dangers of crossing the road. You can help by becoming a citizen scientist and documenting turtles. Your work will help us protect these fascinating creatures.

Get started by attending a special program on April 18th and 25th from 9AM to 12NOON at the Ward Reservation. We'll teach you everything you need to know, from turtle biology basics to survey techniques and take a field walk to try out your new skills. We'll even have live turtles on hand for you to observe.

This is a free training session with the anticipation that attendees will become volunteer monitors at Ward Reservation and Harold Parker State Forest in 2009 and beyond. It is perfect for families with children looking to explore the outdoors.

For more information on the program please send inquiries to turtlesurvey@ttor.org or call 978-682-3580.
